Title:  IC&E Trucks Sit under Threatening Skies
Description:  No sign of the change in ownership of the line was visible, other than the office no longer displays the IC&E Logo - the crossings still say IC&E rather than CP and I did not see any CP locomotives (I did see a rent a wreck, IC&E, DM&E, UP, and BNSF locomotives). This was basically a precursor to the entire trip - almost no trains and bad weather (very hot and humid, lots of clouds, thunderstorms, and rain). You just have to love Iowa in August. I had much better luck taking pictures here in May two years ago.

Description:  or if I would have actually saw a train going north - but I'll have to keep this spot in mind for later (it turns out that the rest of this trip had lousy weather and no NB trains other than locals so maybe next trip - or maybe someone else can catch a train there in good conditions (you have a limited window of good lighting because of the arrangement of the tracks in Muscatine along the river, you pretty need a train to come exactly at the right time)

Description:  This isn't the worst billboard ever (nothing could beat the CNN Headline News billboard Glenn Beck Show with "CUT THE CR*P" with * replaced by Glenn Beck's head - seriously, it made his book jacket where he was wearing a military jacket and looking like the Fourth Stooge look like an intelligent move), but its close. The message of clean diesel technology gets lost when blocked by diesel exhaust.

Description:  Visible is one of the last (of what was once hundreds) of pearl button (they used to use real pearl, but since the 1950s use plastic or nylon) factories once located in Muscatine. Too bad this isn't still in full C&NW OLS Paint! This by the way was the only train in decent light I saw the entire trip, so enjoy.

Description:  MidAmerican Energy Company, Powder River Coal - I believe that the destination is the Louisa Generating Station just south of Des Moines, it travels over the CP/IC&E from Clinton to Muscatine - you have to wonder how long this train will continue operated by UP given that MidAmerican Energy Compay is owned by Berkshire Hathaway which is also buying BNSF)
