Description:  I'm not sure what the proper reporting marks are for this locomotive since SMS did not take possession of it until 2005 according to other photos on the site. In 2000 it was at the Railroaders Memorial Museum in Altoona - GG1 4913 is in the background. This photo was taken in the rain. Really the weather was horrible the entire weekend, but I had driven up from Arlington, VA to see this museum so I was at least going to try to get some photos. This turned out way better than the "only a complete nut would be out taking photos in this downpour" photos I attempted at Horseshoe Curve later that afternoon.

Description:  I have to hold her when trains go by so she can see and not try to chase them. She did chase a train once at the Rocky Mount Train Station but didn't catch it (she has good taste though, she ran right next to a locomotive still in CR Blue barking). Good thing she didn't catch it - while she'd never admit it, a locomotive would simply crush a Jack Russell.

Description:  This photo was really only possible thanks to work on the A Line which closed almost all of the grade crossings in downtown Rocky Mount (only two were open) meaning there were almost no cars in downtown. Some other rail photo site rejected this due to being "oversharpened" whatever that means (seriously, I have no idea). Anyway, I've been trying to get a good shot of a train with the People's National Bank Building for a while - its a hard shot to get because of the lighting and shadows in downtown Rocky Mount - you really only have about an hour window with the tracks well lit before the shadows cover them - getting more of the building would be nice, but this worked out pretty good as is.
