Obviously that is the Mississippi River - bridge is the Iowa/Illinois (MSR) 92 - Route 92 is noted for keeping a continous name from Wyoming to Illinois - probably the longest continously numbered series of state highways in the U.S. In the distance is one of the locks and dams on the Mississippi - if I remember correctly, Lock and Dam Number 17.

Description:  Apparently, Iowa does not have a law requiring people to wear motocycle helmets (you even see Illinois registered motocycles where people are riding without a helmet but have the helmet on the back for when they go back over the river). Interesting discussion with one of my collegues who is against things like requiring people to wear seatbelts, motorcycle helmets, and wearing blaze orange while hunting. His opinion is that those laws interfere with natural selection. I understand the point, but if someone is merely maimed rather than killed due to not wearing a helmet or seatbelt, all of society pays the cost - and those fools increase the cost of insurance either way.
